It adds nice eye candy to the package and there is a bus stop there. It’s a fairly simple addition, but at least model planes are now flying over the map (with audio). The last small addition of new landscapes is an airport that is connected to Sonnstein but is basically pretty much exactly between each of the two new towns. You can tell that they have carefully constructed these two new areas. Between this and Sonnstein, I’m really impressed with the backdrop the designers and artists have created bus simulator 18 compiled for this expansion.

Driving down this street in Kerststadt reminded me of the Miraflores strip in Lima, which is quite similar. Just like Kerststadt, Lima is a modern city that also has a cliff-top coastline. It reminded me of another place I had visited: Lima, Peru. The real-life parallel I mentioned earlier really clicked the first time I rode this. I wish there were more views like this in the game at least the map is Called Seaside Valley. The view is beautiful and the houses driving next to it really make it a ‘picture perfect’. It has a single street stretching high above the coast on a cliff. Despite my love for Sonnstein, my favorite street in the entire game is in Kerststadt. However, the bus stop layout is pretty much in one big circle, so be prepared for a lot of cornering. It’s not really in the mountains like Sonnstein, so it’s a bit easier to drive through. However, due to the city’s small size, it’s still not nearly as congested as the areas on the original map. The traffic here is worse than in Sonnstein. The architecture is much more modern and minimalist. In contrast to Sonnstein, Kerststadt is very modern and has many shops and schools. Calming CoastĪnother real parallel I found was the Neustadt Kerststadt mentioned earlier.

This stretch of coast from Kerststadt is now by far the prettiest place in the game. It was like walking through a virtual rendition of Cuenca. So the drive through Sonnstein was almost surreal for me. In addition, Cuenca is also a relatively quiet place and you don’t have to drive far to get to the greenery that is just like Sonnstein. Although Cuenca is Spanish, the appearance of its buildings is very similar to Sonnstein, which is most likely due to the fact that both have roots in European inspiration. Like Sonnstein, Cuenca consists mostly of historical architecture.

This is a true mountain town where I lived from 2016-2018 and it’s still my favorite place on the planet. I think what really drew me to Sonnstein was that it reminded me a lot of Cuenca in Ecuador. I couldn’t stop myself from taking photos. bus simulator 18 can be a bit stressful most of the time but driving through here was far more relaxing than I expected. The architecture is clearly several decades old, maybe even older. The reward, however, is cruising the streets of the sleepy little town. Attempting to successfully maneuver the longer buses around these turns can prove particularly harrowing. The serpentines also offer their own challenge. You can hear the engine of the bus trying to go up the slope. Sonnstein is tranquil and beautiful in every respect and offers a very different driving experience than the other places.
